The Last 5 Days

The last 5 days I've been holed up in the studio working on a project.
A project I will share more about at a later time.

Today was about letting the Farmboy shoot the local Renaissance Fair.
And eating turkey legs and spiced pecans.

Tomorrow will be about finishing the binding on my newest journal.

Monday things will go back to normal.
And the boys will have food in the fridge and clean underwear, once again.

Fair Day

Once school starts back
and the first week of September rolls in,
I start looking forward to the State Fair.

I always have loved the fair.

I love the bigness of it.

I love the crowds.

I love everything there is to see

and everything there is to do

and everything there is to eat.

I love the memories it brings back.
Memories that span from last year, all the way back to when I was kid.

Fair Day makes me happy.

Marburger Farms

A happy Tuesday to you!
I hope you had a lovely Easter.
I spent mine driving home from Austin.

Not the way I usually prefer spending my Easter Sunday, but the antiques and kolache stop in West made it all worth it.

We were kidless this Easter and the Round Top antique week just so happened to fall on the same week. I couldn't pass that up this year.

You know how I love Spring, right? I love it so much that even allergies don't keep me from being outside in and with the warmth, green and birds... even when I feel like I felt this weekend.

It was bad. Really, really bad.

I didn't have any tissues with me and had just one hanky in my bag, so we only made it to Marburger Farms.

But I'm okay with that, because the Farmboy bought me a lovely French, petit writing desk.

Which just so happens to still be in the back of my car.
Hello... boys? I do still live in a house full of boys, right?
Oh well. At least I can enjoy it on my way to the grocery store and cleaners.

Five Senses + An Irish Festival

At an Irish Festival, you'll find there is much to stimulate the senses.

See

Irish dancing contests.

Touch

The soft, silky coat of an Irish Setter.

Taste

Irish stew... yum.

Smell

The smell of an Irish Wolfhound. I know, I know. But honestly I prefer it over some of the smells that might waft your way when in the throng of a festival. (Just sayin')

Hear

The ethereal sounds of a Celtic harp.

And if you happen to have the luck of the Irish, you just might also hear a Farmboy playing a tin whistle.

What did you do over the weekend?

Take Two

I have another swap to share with you.

This one is for a Rebecca Sower Inspiration Apron Swap. This is my piece that will go along with 13 other pieces, created by 13 other ladies.

I had to create 14. They are only 3x5 in size. And yet, it took me three weeks to finish. Well, one week was wasted. I started them and then decided they weren't right... hence the "take two". I'm please with this second version and hope they work well with everyone else's.

We went to the State Fair yesterday, just the Farmboy and I, and we did something new. We rode the DART Rail (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) into downtown Dallas. I will admit to being a bit nervous before hand. The last story I heard someone tell, regarding a Rail ride, involved a man on board preaching that God would soon be coming down to Earth aback a unicorn to slay everyone. Hmmm.

Our first adventure on the Rail turned out unadventurous and more than likely we will ride more often.

Hope you all are having a beautiful weekend!

Scarborough Faire

Saturday we got all dressed up in our Renaissance garb (yes, we are those weird people who do that, but we don't go completely crazy with it) and went out to Scarborough Faire. It really is the same every year, but I still enjoy going.
Here are a few pictures of what we saw.

This little piping fairy was really too stinkin' cute! And the children were all just mesmerized by her. After she was done playing for them she would give them a dragon's tear and sprinkle them with pixie dust. Really too cute!

This "man of science" was an act I hadn't seen before. We walk up in the middle of the show, so I missed his name. In the first picture he made smoke rings with the barrel and in the second picture he was catapulting eggs (raw eggs) and had this little kid trying to catch them with a bucket at the back of the crowd.

These two crack me up everytime! Please meet Noobler and his cranky leprechaun friend. Noobler plays the mandolin and sings silly songs and the leprechaun play a little tin whistle. (although it's not tin, so I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but it sounds like a tin whistle.)

Here I am with my mouth open and yapping as usual. What do ya think... the sunglasses and crocs really make the outfit don't they?

These are the Rogues. Great band... I think we actually own all of their cds.

A part of one of the villages.

I do believe that this is a troll.

And we can't forget their majesties. Henry and Anne. These two have been playing these parts for probably close to 20 years now!

Bellydancers.

My highland farmboy.

There was a whole family of chainmail clad warriors (hehe, watching Noobler sing!)

Well, there's the tour of our day of revelry and fun!

Howdy folks...

This was a MUCH needed weekend. Just the two of us, alone, doing what we wanted to do. Saturday after having coffee on the back deck, we went to the State Fair.
I LOVE the state fair. As soon as we got in we went straight to a Fletchers corney dog stand. That is always a must! Um, um good. The next stop, the barn to see the baby animals and the giraffe that never seems to grow up.

and of course cows and goats

and I always love a llama and smiling piglets.

We went through all of the merchandise buildings

and through the food buildings for free tastings (one of Bri's favorites)

and then to the craft building (I was pretty excited)

We ended a good day in a perfect way

relaxing in the green, green grass in the Butterfly Garden.

Sunday was spent working in the backyard, tiding things up.
The perfect weekend.
