Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a beautiful holiday season.
Ours was calm and peaceful and simple.
It was wonderful.

My parents were with us for Christmas + a couple of days beforehand and after.
It was unplanned and it was lovely.

New Year's eve was spent in front of the fire
with good food, delicious cake and a movie.

Goodbye 2012.
It was a really great year for me in many ways.
My heart and soul have grown so much this past year.
I feel I am a much better person than I was a year ago.
{not that I don't have so much more growing to do}

And...
I finally finished a 365 project!
Though I did cheat.  But I have zero guilt over it!
There were 366 days last year and I took way more photos than that,
so I have no qualms that I added in more than 31 photos for December
so that I could finish the project.
{I probably couldn't have done it however, if it weren't for my phone and the Picfx app}

{the heart in the middle photo was created by the wonderful Robin Thomas}

I got to looking at all my photos for 2012 and found some interesting {to me} data.
Out of my 366 photos, one will find:
-a dog within 103 photos
-57 beverages {30 are coffee & 10 are alcohol}
-32 photos have something I've created in them {not including my mancub}
-I have 25 photos with my feet in them
-12 are sunrises
and
-4 have at least one taxidermied animal in them
{5 if you include the cover of Jenny Lawson's book}

hmmm...
I wonder what that says about me....

A Glance At November

I have been trying to get over here for over a week now.
Life has been busy.

When November rolled in, I thought we would have a little breather.
Nope.
November was just as busy as October.

It started off with a long over due trip to Chicago to see family.
And the best coffee we've had, to date.
Then home just in time to vote
and to love on a much missed pig-dog.
A cold snap.
Important research before sending my letter off to Santa
and filling our bellies with the best guacamole in Texas.

Then there was a week of dressing pigs in velvet ribbons,
snuggle time,
the all important, "let me show you how pretty I can sit so you can then reward me with your snack"
and finding evidence of Lucy's existence.
The month ended in Thanksgiving leftovers,
Reddi-wip shots,
beautiful sunrises and
celebrating the growth of a mustache for Movember.

Now we are five days into December and I'm really hoping life slows down so I can catch my breath for a moment and not disappear again.

Happy December, y'all!

A Glance At October

October was very busy for us.

The Farmboy and I took a short antiquing road trip
and then we had a lovely week with visiting family.
And afterwards I took another short road trip, that time with friends.

Then we had to say goodbye to our nearly 15 year old fur baby.
And I cried.
A lot.
And after that the Farmboy spent some time making music at an annual music retreat.

We are now a week into November and quite frankly I'm glad for it.
I think it's time to settle in and get ready for winter and the holidays.

Here's to another month of Life
with all of its ups and downs.

A Glance At September

September whipped by.
Did it for you, also?

Here's what our month looked like....

words to remind myself with
afternoon snacks
more violins laying around the house than one person really needs
trying to find a new diet
{we love gizzards, unfortunately they don't sit well on our tummy}
Texas sunsets
morning begging
Jedi pretending
drinking hot coffee on a lazy, rainy morning in a cup that heralds a Texas site that one of us just might have an unusual fixation with

loving on a very old dog and preparing ourselves for the inevitable
making Farmboy and pig shadows
more begging
putting on wool socks hoping it helps mother nature move along into fall
indecision: in or out
dress-up date nights
glorious sunrises
and the art that is always near at hand

Okay, your turn.
Tell me something about your September.

A Glance At August

Around here...

August was all about soaking up the last of summer.
August was about embracing change.

August was about big ideas.
August was about a lot of art.
August wasn't too shabby.

How was your August?

March Glance

21 out of 31 will have to do for March,

because somewhere along the way
it seems I lost 10 whole days.

February Glance

I started off February following this list.
However, it didn't take long for me to get off track.
But that's okay.
And it turns out I had a couple of photos on my phone that I had forgotten about, so I'm only three days behind.
Not too shabby.

So without further ado, I give you the month of February at a glance.

a foggy morning, a pretty pig, exercise in the sunshine
a dead Christmas wreath, an old dog that makes my heart go pitter-patter
and a Valentine's Day portrait

a muscle building lens, a rainy day wedding, a win,
cerulean blue sky, breakfast with Pops
and pretty shoes

March has been issued a challenge.
I'm ready for it.

Mid-Summer Update

At the beginning of June
I said this is what I would do during the summer.
And this is what has actually happened so far.

I have not really spent any time relaxing...
in fact I almost feel busier with all the family we have had and will have coming to visit
(but they are worth it)
I have listened to 4 books
(Audible is awesomness)
and have actually read one and now on the down hill side of Under the Tuscan Sun
(which I am loving)
I have not finished a single WIP
(nor even touched one)
I have not taken a single nap
(but I did come really close the other day)
I have not completed an art journal cover to cover, but at the rate I am going I might
(yay!)

I still have loads and loads of past photos to process in order to get caught up on my 365 photo project.
However, I am participating in Natalea's July in Photos challenge
(and am only one day behind.... at the moment)
and my other 365 project, I haven't even thought about
The only thing I've baked is a chocolate cake (from a box) for the MIL's 74th birthday
(cuz that's what she wanted... not cuz I'm a crappy DIL)
I have not cleaned out any kitchen cupboards
(but I did take everything off of the tops of them and purged)
I have not stitched a sampler
(but my fingers are SO itching to!)
I have not made a quilt
(I am still very inspired to.  Especially after seeing these blocks... though mine will not be this elaborate)

How has your summer been going?

50/365

My life

in 50 photos.

Despite the drama, cancer, surgeries, ADHD and drill sergeant attitudes,
I think it is
a beautiful place to be.

365

Today I was going to share with you my Project 365.
However as of yesterday evening, I now get to share with you my two Project 365s.

A few days before the New Year I decided, on a whim, to try my hand at capturing a photo a day, starting on the first and following through to the last day of 2011.

Now keep in mind that I'm that person that has five hundred and sixty-seven gazillion have finished projects lying around and double that many half filled art journals.

(seriously, I could not man up {or lady up in this instance} and tell you that it's not my fault. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. but I won't say that or climb up any family trees here. I know, it is my fault.)

What I will tell you is this,
I thought this would be a breeze.
"I pretty much take at least one photo a day as is," I thought to myself.

HA!

But I'm not giving up so soon. I can do this!
(At least I know that I can for 7 days.)

I've put a link on my side bar over there -->. It shows the picture of the day and links to my 365 set on Flickr.

Now for my second Project 365.

Yesterday evening I met up with an old friend whom I had not had the pleasure of seeing in quite a few years.
Just getting to see her again was fabulous enough, and then she gifted me with the book Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy.

I am so super excited about this book!
And the best part of this 365 is that she picked one up for herself and we are both going to keep each other on track with it. Which means I'll get to see my dear friend at least once every month!

So there you have it.
365 days of action in the works.

What about you? Are you trying your hand at any year long projects?
I'd love to hear about them if you are.
