Sweet Marie ~ Part II

The Catch-Up Post

Last week was Spring Break for us, and while I had no planned intention of disappearing for the week, well obviously, it happened. So, now I'm going to play catch-up and try to shove everything into this one post.

Normally on Spring Break we do some sort of family thing... camping, road trip somewhere, or maybe activities around the Dallas area. Not this year. This year was completely different.

E flew to Hawaii for most of the week with the school band and orchestra. Let me tell you, I went to the same high school as this kid, but I don't recall trips like this ever happening. I think maybe my Freshman year the French Club took a trip to France in the summer. Well, I was in the French Club my Sophomore through Senior years and as far as I know there wasn't a trip planned during that time. Oh well, I can't really complain, I've been to some pretty fabulous places since high school.

So anyway, of course I do not have one single photo of the boy in Hawaii. It seems to be my experience, that getting a teenage boy to take a camera with him on a trip he is making with his peers, is next to impossible. I'm hoping that maybe someone else who went, will be post photos somewhere and he will be in at least one of them.

While E was lying on a warm Hawaiian beach, the Farmboy took the other two skiing in the snowy Colorado mountains. The Farmboy loves to ski. He grew up in Colorado and any chance he can get to go up there and ski, he jumps at. However, this was a first for both Pretty Lady and Capin' Davy Cannonswine.



So the plan was, while Capin' Davy Cannonswine was in snowboarding school, which he was beside himself excited about, the Farmboy would take Pretty Lady up the mountain and teach her how to ski. She did really well and enjoyed it, despite being so sore afterwards.



Here's Capin' Davy Cannonswine, pre-broken arm. Yep, you read that right. Let me give you a little background on this kid. By the time he was 5, I believe, he had stitches put in his chin at least 3 times. Anytime we go anywhere that has a body of water, whether it be an ocean or a very small stream, the Capin' will accidentally fall in. Gravity is not this kids friend.

Day one was snowboarding class. At the end of the day, the instructor informed the Farmboy, that the Capin' likes to go fast and falls a lot. He also said he didn't think the boy was ready to go down the mountain yet. So, day two was snowboarding class again. He did much better on this day. Day three, their last day of skiing, the Capin' was released from class, but it was decided that he would continue on the slope he had been on the previous days. This slope, "The Magic Carpet", is watched over by instructors and other such people. After watching the Capin' for awhile, the Farmboy walked down to grab his camera. Before he made it back to where the Capin' was, the child had fallen and fallen just right on his arm. So after a trip to the hospital and an x-ray, he was put in a splint, which really isn't much different than a cast, for a stress fracture just above his wrist. At least he waited until the last day.

While all of these exciting events were taking place, I was at home. My plan was to take advantage of everyone being gone and get some serious crafting and organizing done. But, "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." and I hardly got anything done.

However, these things did happen over the course of the week...

This was Mother's Day 2007. E and the Farmboy had just surprised me with new patio loungers. It's a good thing E has zero interest in his mother's blog, because if he saw that I had posted this photo of him, well, let just say, he probably wouldn't be too pleased. HeeHee!

I think I'm going to stop here. I do have a couple of items I found at an antique shop to share, but I haven't photographed them yet, so next time.

Now, I need to tackle the mountain of laundry everyone brought home. Have a beautiful Monday!

Silver Bella Goodies

Today I have Silver Bella goodies to share.

First off is the contents of the black and white striped goodie bags we received the first night.

There were all kinds of great bits in here from all kinds of great sponsors and shops. Such lucky Bella's we were!

I only participated in two swaps, because I had way too much going on just before November. (next year I'm going to plan my time differently!) The swaps were seriously AMAZING!!!

This one was the Junkin' Journal Swap. Each participant was to gather papers or such that could be used as journal pages and then pop in a couple of embellishments, as well.

The loot I received in this swap makes my head spin! I love journals and making journals and I love supplies. This swap was heaven for me!

Here is the 12 Days of a Vintage, Glittery Christmas Book Swap. (I don't think I actually have the name right, but that is the gist of it.)

We were each given a verse from the "12 Days of Christmas" song and were asked to create a book page for it. The art work in this swap is amazing! I opted not to have mine bound and at this point, I'm still unsure as to whether or not I'm going to bind it all together myself or display each day separately. (I'm in the middle of decorating for Christmas, so I should probably decide pretty quick!)

And here are some sweet little gifts I received from other Bellas.

The pretty crown ornament is from Tiffany. The yummy candy bar, which I'll probably bust into today, is from Kim. The cute Audry charm is from Jessi. The great "Queen" charm is from my roomie Joanna. I am SO impressed with Joanna's soldering. Seriously, she only started soldering a few months ago and if I didn't know that, I definitely wouldn't guess it! She is a natural at it! The darling little vintage ornaments are from Joanna too. She's is really too sweet! On Vendor Night we were at Wanda's booth, you can find more of her fabulousness here, and we saw these two little darlings and Joanna bought them for me. They so take me back to my childhood!

So there are my goodies. I'll post all of my Omaha buys next time.

Okay, I'm behind... as usual.(but I have been out of town, so that's my excuse) :)

I've started setting up my shop, Alisa Jane Designs. It's a little bare at the moment, but hopefully not for too long.

Sadie Lou challenged the LolliVendors to a Gingerbread House contest. I have already listed mine and have some more on the way.


A big ol' Thank You to everyone who left such sweet comments about my "baby" boy! And I hope all of you here in the US had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Whew... it's over

The Craft Fair that is and now I can breathe (and eat and sleep) again. I have to say, I don't think I did too bad for a first timer. I took to heart all of the great advice everyone gave me and I think my set up turned out pretty good.



Yes, that is a look of slight irritation on my face. Really a person can only have their picture taken so many times. My Farmboy got a new camera that morning and evidently chose me for his subject. But that is all I can complain about. I have to tell ya, I really think I'm the luckiest person in the world when it comes to that Farmboy! He was so there for me this weekend... 110% in every way imaginable! Love that guy!!!

Anyway, I was up until 2AM the night before making sure I had everything and that all was just right (OCD, yes I know). I set everything up in my sitting room just how I wanted it and then took a picture and printed it out. When I got to the church the next morning (with a Venti Caramel Macchiato and my picture in hand) I got everything set up in less than 30 minutes and then had nothing to do for the next hour and a half before the fair opened.

There was a really good turn out and I had quite a few friends show up too! A GINORMOUS THANK YOU to you guys! Totally made my day! My little family even came by in the middle of the day and hovered for awhile (that's my E, looking bored out of his mind, in the picture up there).

I finally got to meet my blogging friend Allie. And what an absolute sweetheart she is too! Look what she brought me!

Is that not the most wonderful stack of old sheet music?! Again, thank you SO much Allie! Don't forget to email me... we still need to do McKinney!

I did this show with a MeetUp group I'm a member of, which in my opinion, is such a great way to do a fair. It was really nice to have the support of other vendors set up right next to me. There were 7 of us all together. One of the seven was a fellow Etsy Cottage Style/ LolliShop member... Stevie of SugarLoveHoney. She is just as sweet as can be and I'm not the only one who thinks so! Capin' Davy Cannon Swine was quite taken with her. Bless her heart! When the pirate wasn't outside hitting all of the carnival games winning tickets, he was standing in front of Stevie's table talking nonstop to her. But that's just him and she was an absolute doll to sit and listen to his constant chatter. She made such an impression on him, he continued to talk about her all through the evening after the show! You have a fan Stevie!

And speaking of LolliShops, I need to give a big shout out to Sadie! Sadie was so sweet to feature me on the LolliShops blog this weekend. Thank you so much Sadie and thank you to all of you who stopped by over there and left such wonderfully sweet comments for me! I really, really appreciate it!
