Litera-Tea

I was blog hopping and found this wonderful Blog-a-thon. It is hosted by Gracious Hospitality.

So I thought I would join in on the fun. Go get your cup and a cucumber finger sandwich.

This week's theme is Litera-Tea. We are to "Share tea from the perspective of literature."
Well, I have also joined this Jane Austen virtual book club and we are starting with Emma. Because of all of the whirlwind craziness happening around here I'm just getting a chance to start it.
With that said and really good timing, yesterday I just happened to read this...

"... and of their having a very handsome summer-house
in their garden, where some day next year they were
all to drink tea,-a very handsome summer-house, large
enough to hold a dozen people."

This is Harriet Smith speaking to Emma about the Martins of Abbey-Mill Farm. It has been about 10 years since I read any Jane Austen. I'm enjoying the book very much. If you haven't read it I suggest you pick up a copy. It's a very interesting read on the subjects of values and judgments.

I also have a lovely little book on teas and tea etiquette. I gifted it to my grandmother at my Bridesmaid's Tea. (My wedding was an Afternoon Garden Tea theme. When she passed away it was returned to me.) Unfortunately, I can't show it to you because it's packed away in a box. I should go find that today.

I hope you have a beautiful day and time to enjoy a good book and a nice cup of tea.

It's been a while since I have read any of Jane's books, perhaps over the summer months I'll reacquaint myself with her works as I sip tea in my own little garden!

How lovely. I just taped the PBS version of Emma that was aired on Easter. I still need to watch it. Of course reading the book would be better. enjoy...

So glad you're reading Emma and enjoying it. So far, I'm about 80 pages into the book. I've posted some questions on the Jane Austen post if you're interested in sharing your thoughts as you get to that part...

HI, Thanks so much for your feedback. I've never read any Jane Austen before but maybe I'll start with this one!

What a sweet post! I certainly enjoy coming to visit you for the tea and lovely companionship! I hope you won't keep us in suspense for too long as to what you are going to do with the beautiful pink embroidery and cream laces from your recent post!

Yes, I have listed two more red and white matryoshka dolls in my shop now! I was going to only list one but since you were interested I wanted to give you a couple to choose from!
