Cleaning, Sorting and Organizing

With the New Year always comes a major overhaul at my house. Closets are sorted through, cabinets are cleaned out, files are organized, etc. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of people. And really, in my mind, it's the best time to do it. That Spring Cleaning thing doesn't work for me. Spring is my favorite season, so as soon as I spy good ol' Spring, I dash out the door and try not to come back inside until the Summer heat begins to wilt me.

I've started with the biggest mess. No, not the 16 year old's room. Although I admit, that is exactly what it looks like... a teenager's room. Nope, I mean my space. Seriously, it's a disaster. Well it was. It's in much better shape now... not done, but definitely better!

The Christmas decorations are in the process of coming down. I know I said I would keep them up a little longer than normal, but it was time.

And along with Winter Cleaning, we have crud that isn't fixed as easily. Yep, the Farmboy is sick. Bless his heart. I asked him if he wanted some chicken noodle soup today and he said yes, but not that stuff in a can. He wanted me to make some homemade soup. Which I would have done for him in a blink of an eye, but he didn't want to wait for it to cook. So I fed him sushi instead. *Shrug* Yeah, I don't know either, but it made him happy.

After spending the day cleaning, sorting and organizing, relaxing by a warm fire is the best. I've been entertaining myself during this time with these.

Oh, I totally have to share this. Remember how I called my old Christmas tree a Charlie Brown tree? Guess what my parents sent us for Christmas? Yep, that's right. A real Charlie Brown tree. As silly as it is, I LOVE it!!! But, that's probably why I love it so much... silly and I go hand in hand.

Hope you're having a beautiful Monday!

How funny, I was just doing this yesterday. I love how your storing your trims. What do you do with the pom poms? They don't wind well. :P

I had to laugh about Farmboy feeling better after sushi. My husband probably would, too.

I love your Charlie Brown tree!! How sweet!

I found you blog a few days ago though a link from ... well, somewhere... lol! Someone from Silver Bella, I think. Or from somewhere they linked to... not sure.

Anyhoo... I spent quite a long while gandering about and I must say, your blog is quite inspiring.

Today's post necessitated my leaving a comment. Funny how someone you've never met seems to think the very same way you do....

I also do my cleaning right after the new year... for the very same reasons! I cannot stand to be stuck in the house with Spring going on outside. As a matter of fact, just a few minutes ago, I stripped the couch and chair of their coverings for their much-needed deep cleaning.

Another thing that makes me sure of the fact that great minds think alike is the way you store your ribbons. I house most of mine in the very same type of old sewing drawers. amazing, I know. LOL... perhaps we both saw the same idea somewhere and filed it away for future use, who knows?

BTW - hope your "Farmboy" is feeling better soon. {I can't help but giggle at your affectionate nickname for him} tee hee.

Alisa, I just LOVE your Charlie Brown tree!! That is just way too cute! And I admire you for getting organized....something I am not very good at doing :-) Wonderful idea using the sewing drawers for stashing!! My husband restores and finishes old tredles, and I have a bunch of drawers I could be using! Thanks for the idea...gotta get busy! Blessings

Just seeing that tree made me smile!!!

I'm with you on the clearing out, tidying up, sorting and organizing... as soon as the Christmas things are being put away I start thinking of other things that need to be "filed away" and I'm hot on the trail to repaint my living room...I'm sick of the colour!! :)

I agree, this is the best time of year for the cleaning and sorting and organizing. Getting off to a fresh, clean start! I've made a little dent in the wreckage that is my workroom. Looks like you've got quite a lead on me.

Alisa...I do the same thing! Start to clean and end up looking at magazines! The old sewing machine drawers are pretty! Functional too and not that easy to find at a good price anymore.

Have you heard of Lipton's dry soup or Mrs. Grass chicken soup -dry mix? We keep it on hand all the time for when we've got those runny noses and just feel really punk. It's so much better than that canned stuff with all the slimy noodles.

I LOVE your Charlie Brown tree!!! How seet of your parents! I NEED to organize my craft *areas* badly. Yes, I have multiple spots in the house where I like to create and they all need a major overhaul, so I know what I have and what I *NEED*. You'll have to show us once you get organized!

Awwwww, I love your Charlie Brown tree!! I didn't even know they made real ones like that! It's adorable!!!
I totally hear you on the organizing!! I'm trying to do a little of that, too. This is definitely a better time for it than on those beautiful days of Spring!
