Welcome to the Island

I finally have vacation pictures to show! We took a lot of pictures, not as many as we normally take on a vacation, but still a lot. I won't show you all of them, nor will I be too wordy.

St. Croix is a small island, bigger than the last island my parents lived on (Grand Cayman and that was just temporary, unlike this time), but regardless of size, there really isn't much sightseeing to do. But what you can do on the island is this...

Activity #1: Relaxing

This was my view from my lavender chaise lounge on the gallery of the cute, pink condo we stayed in.

This was my view from the lavender table where I ate my meals.
Relaxing was what we did most of... it was great!

Activity #2: Bird and lizard watching

Activity #3: Sitting on the beach

Activity #4: Snorkeling

We did a lot of snorkeling right at the shore searching for sea glass and shells.

Activity #5: Drive through the rainforest

Gorgeous!

Activity #6: Visit Dutch Sugar Mill ruins and pretend you are Rapunzel

Activity #7: Visit the Creque Dam Farm (an organic farm in the rainforest) and pretend you are Indiana Jones with a rainforest vine "whip"

Activity #8: Diving and sometimes dolphin watching

This is the pier in Frederiksted... nice, easy diving here. We saw quite a bit down below the pier... a bat fish (very cool!), eel, seahorse, starfish, lobsters, shrimp, crabs, lots of pretty fish, lots of pretty corals and sponges. If you click on the picture and look close, you will see two little fins sticking out of the water. Dolphins... I think it was probably a mama and her baby. They swam back and forth in front of our beach several times that morning. If you are really lucky and in the right place at the right time, you can swim with them while diving.
We also did a couple of boat dives... great! And I would just like to say, I survived the "Swirling Reef of Death"!

Activity #9: Drinking fresh coconut milk...

from the coconut the Rastaman gave you

Activity #10: Learning to sail on the "Moo" boat

Activity #11: Visiting the Estate St. George Botanical Gardens

I'll do a full post on this adventure later. Next to staring at the sea, this was my favorite thing we did.

Activity# 12: Spending quality time with your boys

There is also shopping and Dutch Fort exploring (not sure where these pics are) in Christiansted and once a month in the main street of Frederiksted is Jazz Fest.

Well, there you have it. Sorry, this post is a bit longer than I had anticipated... thanks for sticking with me. :)

Oh, I also wanted to say thank you for all of the sweet comments about Callia.
Have a beautiful Monday!

Striking photos! Especially of the birdlife and lizard! The lizard one was really something to "write home about!"

Alisa, it looks absolutely heavenly! I didn't see even ONE hint of there being anything at all resembling a "rat race"! It sounds like the perfect getaway!
