On Vacationing

We jetted off, but now we're back.
And it was an absolutely fabulous time.

Even though I have a tendency to be a homebody,
I love taking vacations for several reasons.
But, it really all comes down to the new or different experiences that come along with it.
Such as...

{Food}
I love to eat food.
A lot.
Though I do sometimes find myself a bit apprehensive about the food I may find waiting for me in a new place, I can be somewhat adventurous.
Take black pudding for example.
I went there- even after declaring "I. Will. Not."- and it was actually kinda good.
The haggis, however, was a different story.
No, thank you.

{Geographical Terrain}
This is one of my favorite reasons to travel.
And there is a part of Scotland that might just have become my favorite landscape on the plant.

{People}
I am a people watcher.
Sometimes the Farmboy and I will make up life stories for the people we are watching.
A fun past time for when you have missed your connecting flight and find yourself stuck in an airport on another continent for 5 unplanned hours.

{History}
Especially ruins.
They make my heart beat a little bit faster.

But the very, very best part of taking a vacation, is the creative inspiration that comes along when you mix all of those experiences together.
I find when I get home I have to let it all sit and percolate through me, before I can really move forward with all of that new lovely inspiration.

*********

I'll be sharing our view of Scotland, here, in a series of posts soon.
