It's a Boy

Thursday of last week, the Farmboy called me from his office.
He had a favor to ask of me.

A co-worker in his department would soon be a father
and the office was going to throw a baby shower for him.
Could I, the Farmboy asked, decorate a box for the shower.
A place to collect parenting advice for the soon to be parents.
He would need it in exactly one week.
After the 1.5 seconds of panic that I always feel when I've been asked to create something,
I told him yes, I would.

And then I promptly did what I do best.
I procrastinated.

On Saturday I went out and bought a box.
And then continued the fine art of procrastination.

On Tuesday I went out and found some cute, little fawns for the project.
And then spent the rest of the day procrastinating a bit more.

Wednesday came 'round and after my morning routine and exercise it finally dawned on me that the Farmboy would need to take the box with him the next morning.
At the crack of dawn.

So I got down to it.
{and remembered just how much I enjoy making these little boxes}

Once finished, twelve hours later, I presented it to the Farmboy.

He was taken aback a bit.
Turns out, in his mind, he had envisioned a Reebok shoe box
with some curling ribbon stapled to the top.

Love the ending - sometimes our beloved husbands just don't get it. But the box is beautiful - just perfect.

What a beautiful box! The opinion that really matters the most is the mom of baby boy. ;) And if that doesn't work, then you followed your heart and I think your box is lovely!

Such a great box for new baby advice! Maybe all that 'procrastination' was allowing the design to filter up! :-)
It's really lovely.

just think: if the man who lives with you expected a shoebox with curling ribbon, can you only imagine what the parents-to-be will think of this?! Wonderful! Have a great weekend, xo

I'm always having to defend the lengths I will go to with an "I know I didn't have to, but this is what I do..."
I love your box - it's adorable.

Love this whole idea..creating a special box for advice from parents...I can see this working as a beautiful gift for a newly married couple as well...a lovely way to allow everyone to participate. And the box itself, is a dream. Beautiful...from all angles.
