Friday's Flowers ~ No. 22

Name the season's first hurricane Zelda and fool Mother Nature into calling it a year.
~Robert Brault

*********

It's that time of year again.
Hurricane Season

For us, here in north Texas, it means rain....
oh, and the occasional tornado or two...
or six.

It's normal.
We shrug our shoulders, move on and notice the grass will need to be mown again, as it has grown a foot after the week of rain.

This seems to be the same nonchalant attitude that is often taken by those living in the Caribbean.
Those who tend to be directly in the path of hurricanes and tropical storms that repeatedly form off of the coast of Africa during this time of year.

At least this is the conclusion I have come to after recently receiving a text from my father that went something like this:

6:30AM
"Hurricane Earl rolling in. No power. Making coffee on new gas stove."

Luckily for us, he attached a video of the rather large waves rising up and crashing down on the beach that just happens to be a stones throw from the back door.

Had I thought of it at the time, I would have sent a text to him on Wednesday:

6:00PM
"Sitting on couch. Watching tornadoes move through downtown Dallas on the news. Listening to the tornado sirens going off here in town."

And maybe I would have sent a link to the news station.

Like I said.
Nonchalant.
One week ends and another begins.

Well, maybe that's the best way to be! Mother Nature will do her own thing anyway! My mum is in New Zealand rocking and rolling with the aftershocks of a big earthquake, 375 since Saturday! She's at the 'oh, there goes another one, hang on!' stage. Hope you find a calm path through your hurricane season Mx

Alisa,
I have been saving my Somerset Holdays magazine but i will check it now that i know you are in it. Hooray for you! That is wonderful!!!!

We are off on our trip to Prague tomorrow. I am tired already. hope I sleep on the plane.

I liked that first quote on the top. The flower made me sad. I do love fall, though.

I am taking my sachet material with me. I hope i get a lot done on the plane. nothing like nine hours of sitting!

You be careful during this weather (I sound like MOM!) We have a lot of tornado's here in the summer and the weather alert is pretty good these days. The hurricanes...well that's another matter.

Sending hugs,
Suz

Did you get into that tornado last wednesday? I was in Dallas on a girls trip and was right smack dab in the middle of it and did not even know what was going on until we heard the sirens and looked up to see the sky! duhhhhhhhhhhhh We are okay and looking back I am glad we didn't know what was going on because we would of not known where to go!

LOL! Not me, Alisa! I'd be in the basement hunkered down under the workbench!

LOL. Your dad. What a great guy! If his nonchalance is something you are able to inherit, then I'm all for it. Makes life easier! BTW, I didn't even know we had tornadoes going through downtown, so I was really nonchalant.
