Written Conversation

Not too long ago, I purchased a handmade journal from one of my favorite art journalers.... Natalea.

When I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted if for... a "written conversation" journal. The credit for this wonderful idea goes to Brocante Home.

You see, it is a place to write down notes to your other half... the Farmboy, in my case. We used to leave cards or little notes for each other, almost weekly. But alas, eventually we both stopped doing it. And not for bad reasons. It just stopped... those sweet honeymoon days seem to have passed. But we both really enjoyed leaving and finding them, so I thought to bring it back in this form... documenting our love for each other as we go along. (At least that's the lovely plan. We'll see how often he remembers it's within his reach.)

I couldn't just leave the pages blank, so I started by putting paint-washes on them and will add a little collage to each, as a new page is needed.

Sorry for the crummy photos. I had to take them as soon as I finished this first page, and it was already dark out. You see, I had something to write in it that night. I asked him out on a date. Luckily he said yes. ;) So we did dinner and a movie. It's Complicated. If you haven't seen it, go see it. Funny! Not a completely chick flickish movie, but we will have to balance it out with Sherlock Holmes this weekend.

Have a beautiful day!

Great idea. I think I might just be setting myself up for disappointment if I tried that. Love the effect on that page with the "bubbles" in the blue. I am interested to know which pens you have chosen there. I need a good white pen for doodling. Sort of a Sharpie in white...thoughts?

Hey Alisa! Thanks for checking out my blog and leaving me a message. I truly love checking out your blog and I find it really inspiring. I LOVE the photos and art you create. You've inspired me to try vintage art. Oh, and I loved checking out your older posts on Silver Bella, seems like a wonderful artistic experience!

Great idea Alisa, but I don't know if my hubby would every write in it. Maybe? Thanks for checking my blog, the knitting term you probably were referring to "tink" is "knit" backwards. Meaning I made I mistake and had to un-knit it. Love what you do with your journals - very inspiring.

That's a clever idea. Is it laying around where either of you can write in it or read it? Come for a visit.

The journal looks wonderful, but that page you created is truly beautiful. Can you tell how you did that, I'd love to know.
Looking forward to seeing more pages you created.

Alisa, what a romantic and lovely idea!! I know that i would be using mine all the time, I always seem to have so much that I want to say to DH and in fact our life together started out thru writing, since he was my pen pal. But I know that his book to me would be sadly empty. But I do love the idea. Enjoy yours, you are alway such an inspiration to the rest of us through your creations. Just lovely each and every time. hugs from here, Debby

What a beautiful idea! The journal so far is gorgeous, loving the birds (lovebirds) page. I've seen both movies you mentioned and both were much fun! Thanks for visiting me today, and if I find "N" flatware I'll let you know. Any particular pieces you are looking for? Have a great week. ~ Angela

Oh Yes! I can't wait to include this idea in our home. Lloyd got me a "love fortune cookie" for Christmas, which initially I thought was a waste of dinero (you know, one of those "Christmas Eve" type purchases.) But, it has turned out to be the most fun little $8.95 we've spent all year! I love getting a "fortune" from him pretty much every day. Admittedly, some of them don't really fit, but we've started editing them, or adding to them to make them work. It's so much fun seeing his HORRIBLE handwriting all squished together on this tiny little paper slip. Definitely going to your conversations journal idea when these are all gone. Thanks, Alisa, (and Brocante Home!)
