I've Been Nesting

A little bit of decorating for spring, planting flowers in containers for the back deck and even some organizing, but really, that seems to be an ongoing thing for me. And a little day dreaming about eating alfresco. The wind has been just down right ridiculous here. I mean really, March is over so come on Mother Nature, time to call it quits.

I've also done a little junquing. Here are two of my most recent and favorite finds.

This is an antique trunk tray. The paper on it is original and unfortunately a bit fragile in a few spots. I have decided on a place to put it, but keep changing my mind on what to store in it. Here's a close up.

I also found this little beauty for next to nothing. But, then again, it's no wonder it was next to nothing. It's in terrible condition. Which is probably one of the reasons I love it so.

It's a Victorian photo album. I adore the image on the front. Isn't it so sweet? There are, of course, no pictures in it, but it does still have the photo frames, which are in decent condition. The spine of the book is almost completely gone, so I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and remove the cover for display and use the pages for art work and chunk the back or just leave it as is. What do you think?

I received the prettiest card from my good friend Cheryl the other day. I just have to show it off.

I just love it. Thank you Cheryl!

Okay, now for a different topic. Blogging without obligation. I've seen this on several blogs and never really thought a whole lot about it. However, I've now come to the conclusion, that I think this is for me. I've really been feeling kind of stressed out over the whole blogging thing. And I really don't want to. I like having this little place to write down my thoughts and what I've been up to and really just whatever catches my fancy. The best part of it is the amazing people I've met through blogging. And I absolutely love the fact that you all are kind enough to even care what I have to say in the first place and then leave me the most lovely comments on top of it all. I really don't want to lose any of that. But at the same time I want blogging to be a peaceful activity for me and I don't want to feel stressed out if I can't get a post in at least every other day. So with that said, I've decided to join some of those other bloggers and blog without obligation. So, if you stop by and I'm not around, please know that I will be back and more than likely with a long winded post, like this one. ;) Again, I want you all to know how much I truly appreciate each and everyone of you!!!

Whew! Do I feel like a load has been lifted now!

I hope you all have a most beautiful Tuesday!

I love your "found" photo album. I think if it were mine...I might take that beautiful tray & tuen it on it's side using it as a frame/box/to put treasures in & that book (intact) would be one of the treasures. Both are too pretty to be stored away. Looking at things like that make my hearts happy & I like having them out to enjoy. And ask for blogging... it should be for pleasure & without obligation! There are too many "HAVE TO DO's" out there. But, blogging for me is pure pleasrue. I love all the creativity, beauty, ideas, & friends out there. I do it for ME! ENJOY! No matter how long we are here on earth... it's never long enough to do it all.

Oh I love that book. I would display the cover and use the rest for artwork, because whenever I get something undamaged I never have the heart to cut into it.
And I didn´t even know you could blog with obligation. It´s your blog, post when you feel like it, my reader will tell me when to stop on over.

Alisa, oh definitely! Blogging shouldn't be a stressful, have-to kind of thing. I sure understand. Lots of days there just isn't time. For me, sometimes the "deep" thoughts just don't come or they are ones that are 'way too personal to put "out there". Be happy!

I agree - I love old tattered things. They tell a story of being much loved.

LOVE the victorian photo album, the image is wonderful! If you do take the album apart, I will be anxious to see what you do with that image. Just framing it and displaying it would be wonderful too. I think it is a great find!

as for the BWO, I can trully understand that. I see many bloggers getting stressed out cuz they don't have the time yet feel they have to post each day and leave comment on all the blogs that they follow. What a shame that something that is supposed to be fun, an outlet and something relaxing, turns into just another chore for so many. I think it is great that you spoke out and voiced your opinion about it. Debby

Alisa, I think blogging is your own thing and not somebodyelse's. Do what you want to do, that's also my thing. Sometimes I post twice a week, sometimes once in two weeks (but I've to admit I'm suffering from a cold turkey by then, lol!). It's no obligation, but it has to be fun! Btw, I love your trunk tray, it's gorgeous! And the beautiful photoalbum, I think I would leave it as it is, but well, that's my modest opinion, hey, hey! Wishing you a happy Easter!

Alisa, thanks for the "shout out" about my card. I DO so appreciate our friendship. About "blogging without obligation"...I read Rebecca Sower's article on this very issue in the APR/MAY/JUN 2009 "Sommerset Life", and it really struck a chord with me, too. Though I'm still relatively new to the blogging world, I agree that it should be something done as pleasure--not obligation-oriented. We have far too many "obligations" in life already. Blogging and Creating go hand in hand, and as such, should both be about freeing the spirit! I'll TOTALLY support you on this, no matter how many (or how few) blog posts you make in a month!

Yes! Always blog (and love, and all the rest) without obligation. Life is only a beautiful place if it is embraced freely, right?

That tray would be gorgeous on a wall with some pretties on display. Happy Easter!
