That's what I do.</div>
<div align="center">
I chase the sunbeams around my house.</div>
<div align="center">
And I've recently figured out why.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
This life;</div>
<div align="center">
this long- sometimes drawn out life- that truly lasts only the blink of an eye.</div>
<div align="center">
It is full.</div>
<div align="center">
It is beautiful.</div>
<div align="center">
So achingly beautiful...</div>

In its joy and its love.</div>

<div align="center">

I chase the sunbeams, because I am light.</div>
<div align="center">
Because they are what I know.</div>

Bright, warm, caressing.</div>

I find so much happiness in simply standing in a sunbeam;</div>

I am a sunbeam.</div>

The charcoal pencil.<br />
It has been one of my go to supplies for a long time now.<br />
I love the shadow effect I can get out of it to pop a subject up to the eye.<br />
The depth it can create with its contrast.<br />
The way it can finish a piece when used along the edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5M9ZQPJxQbZTUTziNNb6-hDd86-P-Ki7qmhWUafIv6N86px3cjhfoKEl9PRFKMVuPdMEN5teAkd4yFzOpx7mThrDebxiDcB9kapZsppMKXYZkyO6n3sEiBufGlqeCKQ0Bc0_yoauT5iY/s1600/Sketch+and+Wash1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5M9ZQPJxQbZTUTziNNb6-hDd86-P-Ki7qmhWUafIv6N86px3cjhfoKEl9PRFKMVuPdMEN5teAkd4yFzOpx7mThrDebxiDcB9kapZsppMKXYZkyO6n3sEiBufGlqeCKQ0Bc0_yoauT5iY/s1600/Sketch+and+Wash1.jpg" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Recently I started playing with a water soluble graphite pencil.<br />
{General's Sketch & Wash}<br />
That charcoal pencil might want to be wary.<br />
Lighter in value, but gives a nice smooth and delicate shadow.<br />
It moves about the page easier.<br />
<br />
Same, but different.<br />
Both fun to use.<br />

I still haven't finish <a href="http://beckyhiggins.com/">Project Life</a> 2013,</div>
<div align="center">
but an unfinished project has never stopped me from moving on to the next one before,</div>
<div align="center">
so here I go.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
I decided this year I would change things up a bit.</div>
<div align="center">
I'm still using my own handmade journal without the pockets/page protectors,</div>
<div align="center">
but this time instead of a PL core kit I will be receiving <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/kits/copper-mountain/project-life">Studio Calico's monthly Project Life kit</a>.</div>
<div align="center">
I'm interested to see if it makes a difference with time management.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4jdPp8iJw9yTOSLh1VfJIuTLCvAYB4PKN-iHRYbr3L4yHurRq_9hg9IJxMnOSHj4Mg0nxPs05ZgBrjgq-OcDFXQ2v9eVF5ZpgYjwmw9AwiVPYSa6EFPgRNGHG1f0aaGJuPnyvpL81OAo/s1600/Project+Life-+the+book2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4jdPp8iJw9yTOSLh1VfJIuTLCvAYB4PKN-iHRYbr3L4yHurRq_9hg9IJxMnOSHj4Mg0nxPs05ZgBrjgq-OcDFXQ2v9eVF5ZpgYjwmw9AwiVPYSa6EFPgRNGHG1f0aaGJuPnyvpL81OAo/s640/Project+Life-+the+book2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
As I said, I'm housing 2014 in a book I put together.</div>
<div align="center">
This is a yearbook I picked up, I think early last fall, at an antique mall.</div>
<div align="center">
{I've gone back to <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2013/01/project-life.html">the yearbook plan</a> after all.}</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7933njmXaN6IDLUBlDYGkmQJ6AdJ5xUsvVeGGlA5eUtIGf9DLoujQEoYPJjVIckFfHrU5pHyb78dJGBaT3pttfrNTgQ0CoTweVeezgDo6GUbA6U4dpuGC0MPPFinekQnFMLOJt8j7Bsw/s1600/Project+Life-+the+book1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7933njmXaN6IDLUBlDYGkmQJ6AdJ5xUsvVeGGlA5eUtIGf9DLoujQEoYPJjVIckFfHrU5pHyb78dJGBaT3pttfrNTgQ0CoTweVeezgDo6GUbA6U4dpuGC0MPPFinekQnFMLOJt8j7Bsw/s640/Project+Life-+the+book1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
First I set about making the signatures and sewing them in.</div>
<div align="center">
That took some brain power.</div>
<div align="center">
The plan was to used the diamond x binding stitch <a href="http://dispatchfromla.typepad.com/">Mary Ann</a> taught in her <a href="http://www.dispatchfromla.com/dispatch_from_la/ticket-to-venice-class-information.html">Ticket to Venice class</a>.</div>
<div align="center">
I quickly realized that it wasn't going to work, because I had five signatures and my spine just didn't have the width to handle that many holes in one line and create a good looking stitch.</div>
<div align="center">
So with some finagling, and a whole lot of juggling, I came up with this.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgm4W1bxUWcuHacORN7tkmi5WsWZFzaJcjQQYMokG1CUTeDqGEyrSXq0SjNwZ5eiMT0403HPA3WriLBBPhk6eDSOqHN0MPIaPTY7-epn1ErwoCvmf7v3Hjnh3rnj6XA2cLkW8dLxpksao/s1600/Project+Life-+the+book3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgm4W1bxUWcuHacORN7tkmi5WsWZFzaJcjQQYMokG1CUTeDqGEyrSXq0SjNwZ5eiMT0403HPA3WriLBBPhk6eDSOqHN0MPIaPTY7-epn1ErwoCvmf7v3Hjnh3rnj6XA2cLkW8dLxpksao/s640/Project+Life-+the+book3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
When I got to the cover I found myself flabbergasted.</div>
<div align="center">
It's orange.</div>
<div align="center">
Not a coral,</div>
<div align="center">
{oh, how I love the color coral}</div>
<div align="center">
but tomato orange. Wait... I picked that out?? I don't do orange.</div>
<div align="center">
What was I going to do with that??</div>
<div align="center">
Well once again my need to buy things solely because they are pretty and not because I have an actual need for them came in handy.</div>
<div align="center">
I cut the cover off a<a href="http://riflepaperco.com/"> Rifle Paper Co.</a> journal, glued it down and added some letter stickers to it.</div>
<div align="center">
Perfect. And evidently I can do tomato orange.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJjO6Tw_Rc1qK-aAEnrq4cWf4YJWHrKxeAM2FbW_2KXwK7JMQdOanp5qlQhrEmjuKdOpOUAlw81mz7BjpNCjRHM_ZVu1FVsahjJ05_sH9hDJODsxKNuY0nv25wpjqLAXyWVqEinhTGXi4/s1600/Project+Life-+the+book4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJjO6Tw_Rc1qK-aAEnrq4cWf4YJWHrKxeAM2FbW_2KXwK7JMQdOanp5qlQhrEmjuKdOpOUAlw81mz7BjpNCjRHM_ZVu1FVsahjJ05_sH9hDJODsxKNuY0nv25wpjqLAXyWVqEinhTGXi4/s640/Project+Life-+the+book4.jpg" width="598" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
Inside for the intro page I used a combination of <a href="http://www.kaisercraft.net/newsite/index.php">Kaisercraft</a>, <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> and <a href="http://www.mymindseye.com/">My Mind's Eye</a> from my paper stash, a bit of washi tape and a photo of the #noblesthree.</div>

<div align="center">

<div align="center">
Now to get myself on a printing schedule, because setting aside a chunk of time to print out photos is what slows me down the most.</div>

So if you remember, a couple of weeks ago <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2013/11/call-me-crazy.html">I started preparing</a> for <a href="http://aliedwards.com/december-daily">December Daily</a>.</div>
<div align="center">
Not long after that post I stayed up till 3 o'clock in the morning putting my journal together.</div>
<div align="center">
I just didn't want to stop.</div>

</div>
<div align="center">
You might not know this about me, but I covet velvet.</div>
<div align="center">
Velvet anything.</div>
<div align="center">
Especially old velvet.</div>
<div align="center">
It just so happened that while putting my book together this bit of old, blue, velvet ribbon was sitting on my worktable. I had thought to use it on another project, but while putting my signatures together I noticed how beautifully it went with the <a href="http://www.basicgrey.com/scrapbook/search/fruitcake">Basic Grey Fuitcake paper</a>.</div>
<div align="center">
Ooh. Makes me a bit giddy, that ribbon does.</div>

Also I wanted to try binding my book block into the spine this way.</div>
<div align="center">
Even though I reinforced my spine well, I still had to do some repairs afterward.</div>
<div align="center">
{and looks like I need to on the inside now}</div>
<div align="center">
That's how it goes when you use a book that's around 90 years old.</div>
<div align="center">
But man, I think it was worth it to showcase that blue velvet.</div>

<div align="center">
Though I've started the intro pages of this year's book, I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to tackle the inside pages. I'm pretty sure these two aren't finished.</div>
<div align="center">
However, I really need to keep this project as simple as I can.</div>
<div align="center">
The first year I did a <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2011/11/december-daily.html">December Daily {2010}</a> it was more in a traditional scrapbook style.</div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2011/12/its-start.html">In 2011</a> I went full on grungy art journal.</div>
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2012/12/december-daily-2012.html">Last year</a> I had started to go the same route, but it just didn't feel right and ended up turning towards a more clean and doodly style than grungy.</div>
<div align="center">
At the moment I'm feeling a combination of both of those, however, there are some traditional scrapbook techniques that I might try to incorporate into my style.</div>
<div align="center">
{whatever that might be...}</div>

A few weeks ago I decided to pull out all of my journals and number them in the order in which they were created.</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zgehCiCZGhnpgjUmeTQQ_8f_BuFmuMm_PDWgdTGmh6NTmVvHVxEd7M_S_Tg1ZhutTTZewxTMl5K6FpJWPtF3acX_IS0WtKPp_jKhxLDnkkcxVQ6_gxkstA8BAjlY5PxDkTnYsbR7sdI/s1600/Journals1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zgehCiCZGhnpgjUmeTQQ_8f_BuFmuMm_PDWgdTGmh6NTmVvHVxEd7M_S_Tg1ZhutTTZewxTMl5K6FpJWPtF3acX_IS0WtKPp_jKhxLDnkkcxVQ6_gxkstA8BAjlY5PxDkTnYsbR7sdI/s640/Journals1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
</div>
<div align="center">
So I dug them all out. Looked at them. And revised my plan.</div>
<div align="center">
{Also, I'm pretty sure there are some I missed in a cabinet I didn't check.}</div>
<div align="center">
I altered my plan from numbering all the journals to just the ones that have been specifically used for only random play.</div>
<div align="center">
It seems I have quite a few journals that are themed or I've been using for certain projects/prompts or I'm using very specific mediums in.</div>
<div align="center">
So everything that has been only used for a special project, theme, memory keeping, doodling or drawing got set aside.</div>
<div align="center">
That left me with seven.</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIsV9O17GYNeQDI0vQm6Gp4ywqdjJRD6ahnzUdPaNcsNI2HjAsqEQzkD_NH5iIx7UWNKEZ8YRmm6SIOOtENrd4UntalePXU1iYzBtBDgfVTEc8tftXlpMD_Y_9lZuF8zAbF6Juzel1IAk/s1600/Journals2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIsV9O17GYNeQDI0vQm6Gp4ywqdjJRD6ahnzUdPaNcsNI2HjAsqEQzkD_NH5iIx7UWNKEZ8YRmm6SIOOtENrd4UntalePXU1iYzBtBDgfVTEc8tftXlpMD_Y_9lZuF8zAbF6Juzel1IAk/s640/Journals2.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
</div>
<div align="center">
Seven got numbered.</div>
<div align="center">
And not a single one of those seven is complete and full.</div>
<div align="center">
As I was putting them all back the shelf I decided to keep No.1 out.</div>
<div align="center">
And actually finish it.</div>
<div align="center">
Then a few days later I was working on a special project </div>
<div align="center">
{Hello big dreams. I'm back to working towards you.}</div>
<div align="center">
and I had some left over paint that I didn't want to go to waste, so I pulled out another of the numbered journals to deposit it in.</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz-VSGeP_iGUnZs2XAkaKhFIcnVz-AUGaYbZjR_MKkKQ2OGgHwLg62DeIQAPBwjnrE4XXH5Ob1gvpnuKfYOnWhbT-pDvOS6oS999LhNJxsD6c0mSnWO-0HAhL7izykfWVj4U7elyM2njk/s1600/Journals3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz-VSGeP_iGUnZs2XAkaKhFIcnVz-AUGaYbZjR_MKkKQ2OGgHwLg62DeIQAPBwjnrE4XXH5Ob1gvpnuKfYOnWhbT-pDvOS6oS999LhNJxsD6c0mSnWO-0HAhL7izykfWVj4U7elyM2njk/s640/Journals3.jpg" width="582" /></a></div>
</div>
<div align="center">
Then one day it felt like autumn outside and so I went and got my Autumn journal,</div>
<div align="center">
because I haven't touched it since last autumn.</div>
<div align="center">
And now, as I sit here at my worktable writing this, I count six open journals;</div>
<div align="center">
a spellbook, a doodle journal, a December Daily and art journals numbers 1, 3 and 7. </div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
It seems pulling forgotten journals off shelves to number is a pretty productive idea.</div>
<div align="center">

We caught a break in the rain this morning,</div>
<div align="center">
so we got our walk in.</div>
<div align="center">
But only twice around the park, </div>
<div align="center">
for it seems our one week of autumn has already ended and winter is upon us.</div>

That means it's dropped below 60 degrees.</div>

and twice around the park leaves us with numb hands, rosy cheeks and drippy noses.</div>

So now we are back home with warm socks on and a second pot of coffee perking</div>

and we are ready to continue with this week's activity.</div>

I've been back at it.<br />
I had to take a little break from <a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/about/project-life.php">Project Life</a>. Every time I sat down to work on it, I just got too sad seeing all of the photos of <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2013/06/our-sweet-sweet-daisy.html">Daisy</a>.<br />
But when my friend Cheryl asked me if I wanted to go with her to a scrapbook crop the other day, I decided it was time.<br />
And I managed to finish all of April.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnU6ruJrd0CSpydMPK2vHYBtU592813UnPFR0cL9RpgfWvbMASRUW_3gpqQVGXZ22fLqFAH009f7Yf68K5pmWzyIvTX-k5MLjM15WB3s69T_HwTRA0vGuZ7ZWT7wxoAjqDaH3X0WYDiNg/s1600/Project+Life+April1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="522" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnU6ruJrd0CSpydMPK2vHYBtU592813UnPFR0cL9RpgfWvbMASRUW_3gpqQVGXZ22fLqFAH009f7Yf68K5pmWzyIvTX-k5MLjM15WB3s69T_HwTRA0vGuZ7ZWT7wxoAjqDaH3X0WYDiNg/s640/Project+Life+April1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the aspects of doing this project that I have found to be both fun and interesting to watch is how the colorways develop with each week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1oO9VEWy-aBr3R217A7Pmw05nGUTP-tAiKiC_gkP9hTn0yLfQMdD1AmJ-xZN8oNVKWwUVNYkfak7spfIzAbr0ssZs3xWJiIQjar_qWg8qN3RNyMT6hX7S0ymMoqgpQMl-jEeKSZDHNNY/s1600/Project+Life+April2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="536" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1oO9VEWy-aBr3R217A7Pmw05nGUTP-tAiKiC_gkP9hTn0yLfQMdD1AmJ-xZN8oNVKWwUVNYkfak7spfIzAbr0ssZs3xWJiIQjar_qWg8qN3RNyMT6hX7S0ymMoqgpQMl-jEeKSZDHNNY/s640/Project+Life+April2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
If you've been following along then you know I'm using the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Project-Life-Core-Kit-Edition/dp/B0095YS90A">Olive Edition core kit</a>,<br />
plus a small hand full of pattern paper pads <br />
{<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Crate-Paper-Story-Teller-Collection/dp/B007QNDHSQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1380585273&sr=8-3&keywords=crate+paper+story+teller">Crate Paper</a>, <a href="http://store.scrapbook.com/ecp-thc26023.html?utm_source=google-shopping-feed&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google-free-shopping-feed&utm_content=ecp-thc26023&kw=ecp-thc26023&cmp=GSHOP&gclid=CIjwn_Gq9LkCFcbm7Aod0VsAYw">Echo Park</a>, <a href="http://store.scrapbook.com/wr-61613-9.html?utm_source=google-shopping-feed&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google-free-shopping-feed&utm_content=wr-61613-9&kw=wr-61613-9&cmp=GSHOP&gclid=CPmB-dKq9LkCFadj7Aod1j0AdA">We R Memory Keepers</a> and <a href="http://store.scrapbook.com/mme-lf2104.html?utm_source=google-shopping-feed&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google-free-shopping-feed&utm_content=mme-lf2104&kw=mme-lf2104&cmp=GSHOP&gclid=CP63poGq9LkCFctr7Aodo1wAAg">My Mind's Eye</a> & <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-35846/MAR6X6-MARKET-STREET-BIRD/Detail">this one</a>}<br />
and a <a href="http://art.papaya-store.com/papaya/cards-paper/calendars.html?cat=198">Papaya Art 2009 planner</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSCwyk8UDUuPNknf7EjToGRIbujr7yuFk-ALDW7hREo4Owz998IQEThtDWq6oY1QgwpM0ClTcgJRTkAvVVMBEWVbOZDjyq95m9q41j2sFZrH2Hu2H59ezlQZQyqGKiU2PcRUtmM29H4tw/s1600/Project+Life+April3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="526" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSCwyk8UDUuPNknf7EjToGRIbujr7yuFk-ALDW7hREo4Owz998IQEThtDWq6oY1QgwpM0ClTcgJRTkAvVVMBEWVbOZDjyq95m9q41j2sFZrH2Hu2H59ezlQZQyqGKiU2PcRUtmM29H4tw/s640/Project+Life+April3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
To keep it super simple I rotate through the kit cards, as well as, the paper pads.<br />
And I'm using the art in the planner in the order they've already been put.<br />
See, super simple.<br />
And that's also what is making it fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCXidknkcBKowAcRdIvoIv0a4uzROnOznptQB_0jzd5c8EBpIsnlKOWg9rJaPx56tqwGPjUsLcm69KDc1SSzTxGHR_m4d1L8Zh4lZIRuSQaREwL7-4M4GtBTsLWRblTt4bu7keGEcKcpk/s1600/Project+Life+April4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="522" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCXidknkcBKowAcRdIvoIv0a4uzROnOznptQB_0jzd5c8EBpIsnlKOWg9rJaPx56tqwGPjUsLcm69KDc1SSzTxGHR_m4d1L8Zh4lZIRuSQaREwL7-4M4GtBTsLWRblTt4bu7keGEcKcpk/s640/Project+Life+April4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Take week 15 up there...<br />
I had the turquois and chartreuse cards out and the flower design {on the date card} from the planner.<br />
So when it came to adding a pattern paper the pad that was next in rotation just so happened to have that red polka dot.<br />
And that's pretty much how every week works itself out.<br />
Serendipitous colorways.<br />
Couldn't be anymore perfect if you ask me.<br />
<br />
<br />

The Farmboy and I decided last year that we were going to start celebrating our birthdays not on the actual date of our birth, but at our half birthdays.</div>
<div align="center">
It just made a lot more sense, since both of our birthdays fall within a week before and after Christmas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyh6yGoNlstRiYUFWop_WMosMwcTIxRNP8XbkTzFFOFeyKj4jf3wAM8GUfwaIrxKcS851bvhTPVb-zc2jsCZEC6lIXyeQr2Mx_DgkwTfEfWSq3-7iViEHRSjFcTjMyMH71XgCiky-FT2I/s1600/Half+Birthdays1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="502" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyh6yGoNlstRiYUFWop_WMosMwcTIxRNP8XbkTzFFOFeyKj4jf3wAM8GUfwaIrxKcS851bvhTPVb-zc2jsCZEC6lIXyeQr2Mx_DgkwTfEfWSq3-7iViEHRSjFcTjMyMH71XgCiky-FT2I/s640/Half+Birthdays1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
</div>
<div align="center">
Well it turns out, celebrating half birthdays is a whole lot of fun.</div>
<div align="center">
So when we found out a wee family member would soon be visiting us, along with her parents, we realized it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate her half birthday.</div>
<div align="center">
(Especially since we weren't able to celebrate with her on her actual birthday.)</div>
<div align="center">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiVPppLL0gP5mwJ16DKspflFk_9sGAVEcAwlRC4WboV6acBFe_aK7vtvDHwjmaplCBUprIDk2ZkERJMG_D-vnddW8oTBkDMTukLxhjMpAR66HXyTlwqYC-m-eFIh-TzqkD0CRR01BU6Js/s1600/Half+Birthdays2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="508" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiVPppLL0gP5mwJ16DKspflFk_9sGAVEcAwlRC4WboV6acBFe_aK7vtvDHwjmaplCBUprIDk2ZkERJMG_D-vnddW8oTBkDMTukLxhjMpAR66HXyTlwqYC-m-eFIh-TzqkD0CRR01BU6Js/s640/Half+Birthdays2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
</div>
<div align="center">
I immediately started brainstorming and remembered that I had recently unearthed a little cake project kit and I knew it would be both the perfect box to put her gift in, as well as, a perfect party decoration.</div>

<div align="center">
This cute little kit was from a make-n-take during the <a href="http://mariesdansedesfleurs.blogspot.com/">Marie's Danse des Fleurs Art Event</a> hosted by Cassandra VanCuren way back in 2011.</div>
<div align="center">
I was supposed to have gone to this event; however, a couple of months prior my mother-in-law had not only started chemo and radiation treatments, but ended up having two heart attacks as well.</div>
<div align="center">
I decided it was best that I not leave town for awhile.</div>
<div align="center">
Cassandra was kind enough to send a big box full of all of the class kits to me.</div>

I had such a fun time making this.</div>

After purchasing the numbers at my local craft store I came home and spent the afternoon cake decorating.</div>

when you start through those rough patches of life,</div>

inspiration really gets thrown out the window.</div>

I've still been here; <a href="http://instagram.com/alisanoble#">doing stuff even</a>.</div>

But blogging, well there was just no reserve energy left for it.</div>
<div align="center">
Thankfully, today I've found some.</div>

And hopefully it lasts more than a fleeting moment.</div>

Finlay has adjusted to Noble life quite well. That outdoor dog we had to drag into the house the night we brought him home, well he now prefers the comfort of air conditioning and cushy couches to hanging with us outside on the back deck when the weather is lovely and perfect. He quickly became accustom to afternoon snack time with gourmet dog cookies. He loves to "go" in the car and will refuse to get out once we've arrived back home. He loves cuddles and kisses. And though our little, nappy bear hasn't grown in height (he measures only 25" at the withers and a little under 5' when standing on his back legs) he has put on some much needed weight. He was very underweight at 59lbs when we got him and is now at a healthy 75lbs.</div>

I am almost certain Finlay is <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2012/10/lucy-tails.html">Lucy</a> reincarnated. There is only one difference, (okay two if you include breed) where Lucy thought she was Zeus (i.e. immortal) Finlay is more like, well, like a mouse or a sparrow. He is very shy and cautious of new people and new places, but like many dogs he has that sixth-sense and can "feel" people. And though there has only been one instance of this occurring, this dog will not hesitate to bow-up and the most menacing growl will emerge from the depths of his puffed up chest should he "feel" someone is dangerous to us. However, most of the time he is just a big, shy, happy goofball.</div>

Finlay goes for two walks a day; one in the morning and one in the evening. We practice following commands we already know on these walks and work on new ones. Lately Finlay has been working on coming to us when called. And he's been doing very well. We are hoping he will be like <a href="http://lifeisabeautifulplacetobe.blogspot.com/2011/11/this-one-is-for-robin.html">Daisy</a> and never stray too far from us so he can play freely when we go to the "big" park. </div>

I let him off his lead and we were playing with the poopie bag holder as one would a ball. (He loves this.) But then he got too far from me. So I called him back. Nadda. I called for him to stop. Nope. I yelled at him to sit. Wasn't going to happen. He kept going until he came to the (probably terrified) little guy, who I'm sure only wanted to get out for some morning exercise, not be accosted by a little wolfhound. Then he sat and asked the unsure little man if he wanted to pet him. (This was a Finlay "first moment".) Just as the guy realized Finlay was not going to rip his throat out, he went in for the pet. And that's when Finlay heard his daddy's car coming down the road.</div>
<div align="center">
And took off again.</div>

As he started to cross the street to get to his daddy, a big scary man in a truck started yelling at him and before his daddy could get out of the car and get him, Finlay was off like a rocket.</div>

Life.</div>

It's been a little stressful around here lately.</div>

You know, life <strike>crap</strike> <strike>drama</strike> stuff.</div>
<div align="center">
I'm not the protagonist in the stories being played out right now,</div>
<div align="center">
but I'm close enough to the action that I am definitely a supporting character.</div>
<div align="center">
As a self proclaimed "seeker of beauty,"</div>
<div align="center">
I've become fairly adept at finding the "beautiful" in messy life situations.</div>
<div align="center">
Unfortunately that doesn't always alleviate the heartache and stress.</div>
<div align="center">
So what is one to do is such situations?</div>
<div align="center">
Well, for me, it's drink coffee.</div>
<div align="center">
In copious amounts.</div>
<div align="center">
Amounts that make my dental hygienist's polishing hand twitch.</div>

But stepping away from the action is helpful, as well.</div>
